Mbole copper anklet currency 07.05.386
These currencies were made out of a rectangular copper plate, hammered until it becomes a ring. The ring is sealed by additional hammering and reheating. They are the work of great forge masters. (Bellarini2009).Different size and forms have each specific local names. The smallest (ø 15-16 cm) being the Diako; the largest ones (ø 30 cm) are known as Batakataka. For Jonga and Hamba tribes these anklets served in marriage transactions. Possessing them gave access to various ranks of the Okum Okunda society. Condition: fine nice patina some reference painted on one side.
