Nice cross Iferouane 01.09.897

The cross teneghelt ( tshineghelen, plur.) is one of the oldest jewels of the Tuareg, it is moulded in a metal mould or in the "lost wax" technique. This is the origine of its name enghel, which means pour or pour in a mould. The denomination "cross" has been given by the first European travellers but makes no sense in tamashaq, the tuareg language.
