Bracelets and anklets are amongst Rashaida women's favourite ornaments. They are worn in pairs, at least one on normal days and many on festival days. Most of these bracelets are found in Ethiopia and Sudan. Muslims are preoccupied with the evil eye, which they interpret as the maleficent energy of an envious look. Silver jewellery had the power to deflect this, as did the eye motif or the protuberances on bracelets
