Antique spice boxes from the Swat Valley 09.02.155
A turned and decorated lidded spice box with a warm yellow, red and orange colours, and natural markings of age. It has hand forged metal hinges. These boxes were used for spices like black pepper, cumin, tea, cinnamon, saffron, etc. Similar boxes are used in the Northern Frontier district of Pakistan, Pakistani-Afghan border areas and Punjab.
