Labba tayyur or bird necklace made by a Jewish silversmith probably early 1900. This is an outstanding piece of jewellery bought late 1970 in Yemen. It was considered already at the time as an extremely rare and expensive piece. It will need some more investigation regarding the artisan who created this unique piece of ethnic jewellery.

Frantz Zephirin was born in Cap Haitien, Haiti on December 17, 1968. By his reckoning, he is the 24th of 48 children sired by his architect father (with 19 different women). Eventually, he moved to Port-au-Prince and became associated with the Galerie Monnin. His style is unique among the painters of the Northern School. He describes himself as a "Historic Animalist". He is entirely self-taught. Zephirin is the preeminent Haitian artist of his generation, along with Edouard Duval Carrie. He has exhibited internationally. In October 1996 he was awarded the Gold medal in the Third Bienal of the Caribbean and Central American Painting sponsored by The Museum of Modern Art of the Dominican Republic.

A truly gorgeous and cheerful picture of harvesting Haitian women holding baskets with different tropical fruits. At the background, trees and green crops. Very vivid and colorful paints. The painting is hand signed with "EDGAR BOUZY 26/6/95". Edgar Bouzi was born on June 12, 1955 in Fond-Verettes. He began to paint in 1974 helped by Casimir Laurent, in the primitive style. The painting will be shipped rolled.

Incredible Ethiopian amulet necklace. Collected in 1980 in Ethiopia I was told that such necklace was worn by some hermit priests. This special rich necklace contains among others: Two Sidamo camel bone pendants; one Arsi/Oromo power amulet pendant created with la ion claw and in a silver frame; Two silver ear spoons; three cylindrical amulet boxes; 2 large Cypraeas shells; a large and heavy (iron) Coptic cross various beads and rings.

Old Ethiopian Kitab leather amulet necklace containing Coptic scrolls. Ethiopian manuscripts and prayers. They are used by the Oromo's to ward off evil spirits and bring the wearer good luck and fortune. Bought in Ethiopia in the 1980ties. The necklace is made out of: 8 prayer rolls; 3 leather amulet containers, 1 leather container containing " a book" (see picture), 1 small horn (goat or sheep??) and 2 spoons carved out of a horn. A unique piece in its original, but perfect, condition with beautiful patina on all parts.
