Omani triangular " Digg" necklace 03.01.111
It comprises a stiff, cotton-bound substrate, two silver amulet boxes (hirz); large silver beads; multiple strands of tiny silver beads; and a fine cross-bar section.The lower cross bar section of the digg consists of a rigid bar which lays across the breast has a conical, gold plated central bead. On each side of the central bead are 2 red glass beads. The horizontal part ends with a heavy bunch of twisted strands of tiny silver beads. At the end of the bunched strands is a large silver beads followed by a gold plated "hirz" an amulet box . The necklace is threaded on a thick rope of cotton.
A similar piece is in the British Museum, number 2009,6023.212
It is likely that such a necklace would have been typically worn in connection to weddings and other important celebrations.
