This upper-arm triangular stone bracelet, eewuki, from Niger is made of a soft stone, aluler, found in the Air mountains (Niger). Worn on the upper arm, the Tuareg believe in its powers as a protective amulet and to provide force to the arm. The slim profile of this bracelet is named asket meaning "Cut into slices". The bracelet has been repaired see pictures.

This is a semi-spheric upper-arm bracelet, made out of marble of the Dimamou carries , North of Hombori (Mali). Bracelets manufactured there being sold all over the Sahelian region. The rounded profile of this bracelet is called Abambay , a pattern that seems not be worn by nobles. These bracelets have fallen into disuse among the Tuareg but are still worn by the Woodabe.

A multitude of tribes of the inner Niger delta and Algeria use these stone bracelets made of a stone called Kaka found around Hombori (Mali). Among the Tuareg these bracelets have fallen into disuse but are still worn by the Woodabe. The rounded profile of this bracelet is called Abambay.

This is a superb antique 19th Century ivory bracelet or upper arm bracelet from the Nuer tribe in Southern Sudan, collected during my extensive travel in South Sudan in 1973/4. Ivory is the material of choice for many of the peoples, Anuak, Shilluk, Nuer , etc. within Sudan. Its size makes it possible to wear ay exclusive jewelry, but it also makes an attractive piece of a collection or on a stand as valuable design item. It is in perfect condition, with small cracks and the smooth patina.
