Composite tobacco pipe consisting of a gourd and hide mouthpiece, bamboo shaft and pottery bowl, fitted together and theoretically detachable, although they are currently held together by a carrying loop.The pipe bowl has been made from clay and burnished and fired to obtain a reddish brown colour with some darker patches. The bowl has a nice patina. A similar piece can be found in t Pitt Rivers Museum under: 1902.17.1 .1 .2 .3

Rare African tobacco pipe in 3 parts. A mouthpiece in wood, a centrepiece in animal horn and a furnace in pottery. Its origin is not known. We are grateful for any further information.

SThe pipe is composed of a dark wood pipe head and stem. The furnace is lined with metal inside the fireplace. It is decorated with two horizontal lines. The furnace is extended by protrusions on three sides. The two lateral sides of rectangular shapes, in their centre, is inserted a brass disc. The brass mouthpiece is linked to the furnace by a wooden centrepiece. Similar pieces are in MEG (Musée d'Ethnographie Genève) Inv. No. ETHAF 041485 and the MEN (Neuchàtel).The pipe head has rest of long tobacco use.

Hash pipe in silver with baluster shaped bowl with cylindrical filtrand standing on a straight stem and placed on a horizontal stem. Entirely encased in silver plate that is driven with stylized leaf motifs standing around the bowl, the stem base and the stem twisted. Silver plate with rosette-shaped smoke outlet. A similar piece is found in the Amsterdam pipe Museum under APM 23.587.

Asnuff bottle made of cast brass from northern Cameroon/Nigeria (Vere?). It begins with a reinforced rim, a long narrow neck, a bulbous body decorated with a concentric pattern, partially erased. An integrated buckle anchors the strap from the stop.

This is a lovely worked and painted leather bag, worn by the Tuareg and Fulani of Muritania. These bags contain normally tobacco, a pipe and tweezers and needles to remove thorns, they are also used as wallets. Within the Tuareg they are usually the women who tanned and decorated the skin.

Tobacco pipe of white metal with cylindrical bowl ending in a point where the straight stem begins, stem end thin band and then short conical mouthpiece. Boiler undecorated but with filter tape. Stem with centerpiece quadriceps shaped with geometric decoration. The origin is probably Marocco, but not confirmed.

Southern Sudan probably Nuer woman's pipe. The pipe head is made out of black clay. The stem has been made from a cut iron tube, probably there was a wooden mouthpiece. Collected in 1975/6 in the Nuer area.Contains still rest of tobacco.

Beautiful large pipe from the Dinka tribe in Southern Sudan. Similar pipes can also be found among the Nuer and Shilluk. The wooden pipe head is decorated with brass incisions. The pipe stem is in brass. Similar pieces are in MEG (Musée d'Ethnographie Genève) Inv. No. ETHAF 041485 and ...83.The pipe head has rest of long tobacco use.

Southern Sudan probably woman's pipe made in 3 parts. The pipe head is made out of black clay. The stem has been made from a cut piece of lightweight yellow wood, the wood has longitudinal grain and may belong to the bamboo family. A brass mouthpiece has been force-fitted onto the upper end of this. Collected in 1975/6 in the Dinka area. The pipe contains still rests of tobacco.
