This is a fine twisted silver torque with a central medallion. It is thought that this type of torque was originally made in the Swat Valley in North Pakistan and brought westwards to the Kafirs in Afghanistan. Our pieces have been collected in the Swat valley

A turned spice box in a dark red colour, and natural signs of long use. The decorations are either painted in a black colour or incised. These boxes were used for spices sugar, etc. Similar boxes are used in the Northern Frontier district of Pakistan, Pakistani-Afghan border areas and Punjab.

Small wooden bowl with a leather base and straps. Nice patina. Even this one still smells butter; such small containers were also used for honey. Collected around 1975 in the Omo river area it could be Borana as well as Turkana or Pokot.

Traditional type of doll from Kenya, made by the Turkana tribe, called a ngide (child) doll, but more specifically, an ikideet. The the ikideet, was traditionally carved for a girl by her father, and wore some of the girl's own beads and leather from her skirt.
The doll is in perfect condition and comes with its stand.

This tablecloth was made in the 1980's by a missionary station in Chad and represents rock engravings of the Tibesti. The fabric is made of two large strips of white raw cotton.

This is a cut pile Kuba cloth. Graphically distinctive and richly evocative of central Africa, Kuba cloth is handwoven using the strands from raffia palm leaves. The raffia strands are dyed in a variety of earth tones using vegetable dyes. Historically, the Kuba people have used their cloths as skirts, wrappers, sleeping mats and even currency.

This pendant was typical among the Gouin, the Karaboro, the Turka or the Toussian ethnic groups. According to Glar 2015, it was probably made by blacksmiths in Banfora. The triangle is the result of an increasingly advanced stylisation of the shape of the chameleon.
