This item has been collected in 1982-84 in Southern Chad. According to Hamillton galery, these iron or brass forms were used by several peoples of No. Nigeria and Cameroon, including the Chamba, Mumuye, Mambila, Idoma and Montol. These forms were recognized and used as currency.

Large wooden bowl used by both Pokot & Turkana tribes. The bowls are carved by the women using traditional tools and an indigenous tree. This bowl was used to receive cow's blood that is obtained by piercing the jugular vein. The cow's blood is then mixed with the cow's milk. The bowl has lovely engravings and a warm patina. Collected on the shore of lake Turkana around 1974.

This cotton blanket was collectet in 1978 in Niger. Both Fulani (Peulh) and Songhai use this type of blanket. Typically this size and weight of cloth served multiple purposes as blankets and household furnishings. It has been washed and some of the the indigo blue has rubbed off. /see pictures)

Another hand made deep pottery dish from the Swat valley region of Pakistan. It has a glazed top and unglazed underside. A fine hair crack on the edge, see picture. These potteries have an interesting glazing.

This iron cache-sexe is made out of 13 iron "teeth" linked together and ending with a ring on the top end through which passes the belt. These are ancient pieces; beaded aprons long ago replaced the original of iron aprons.

A multitude of tribes of the inner Niger delta and Algeria use these stone bracelets made of a stone called Kaka found around Hombori (Mali). Among the Tuareg these bracelets have fallen into disuse but are still worn by the Woodabe. The rounded profile of this bracelet is called Abambay.

Prayer beads with 63 small beads 2 large ones and 2 synthetic ? amber beads. The string ends with with a single, elongated marker bead at the end and coloured cotton tassel. The number of beads correspond neither to the Christian not the Muslim "rosaries",

A pair of nis'a "earings" with silver wire decoration. The bodies are hollow. A loop of silver wire (Hàlka) joins the top and the bottom of the cylinder. Women in Northern Oman wore these earrings, often several of them attached to a silver chain which ran across the top of the head.

A one-piece round fruit dish, with a turned base. It has nice decorations party, vanished by prolonged use, and some traditional repairs which contribute to the attractiveness of this item. The dish was acquired in Swat Valley (Northern Pakistan).
