Afar ? headrest, Ethiopia 06.02.167
For centuries, the Afars, the nomadic people spread along the red sea of three countries,
Eritrea, Ethiopia and Djibouti live in the dry and hostile region of “Danakil” which widens into a vast depression called the “Afar triangle”. They assured formally the caravan transport particularly that of salt through Eastern Africa. Some attribute this type of headrest to the Karamajong in the Omo valley.
