Mambila / Chamba ceremonial trapezoidal hoe currency 07.03.380

Present all over Africa the hoe as agricultural tool is present in various forms. If they have a monetary function, not attested before the mid 20th Century, they adopt often stylised, over over- or undersized, non functional forms forms. As in most African societies ploughings is done by women it was evident that the hoe currencies intervened in matrimonial transactions.
