The overall shape of the prayer board imitates the pointed archways and prayer niches (mihrab) of Islamic architecture. The board is rectangular with a pointed shape similar to the central field of prayer rugs; the pointed end terminates in a circular form. The board has a simple repeating border pattern carved round the plain centre. The circular form at the top is carved with a central rosette. he prayer board reflects the vibrant traditions of the wood craftsmen of the Swat Valley.
