Our wooden plates and bowls have primarily been collected in Ethiopia and in the Hindukush mountains. Wooden bowls, trays and platters were widely used in traditional African societies to contain all manner of foodstuff. They were done according to the traditions of each ethnic group. Wood carving was restricted to men.

This is another nice wooden plate from Swat valley. It has a triangular handle on one side and a spout on the other side. Sculpted lines form the decoration of the outside face.
