Bottles for banana beer are made out of the medium-sized pumpkins of the ibamba variety. The present gourde is remarkably conserved and lovingly repaired one repair consists of fine strands of interlocking rattan sawn through the gourd a second type is made with metal clamps. The gourde has deep brown/reddish patina. Collected during my stay in Rwanda from 1974 to 1977.
